Faucets deal with water and they’re used for cleaning everything. It always happens that you’re turning your faucet on with your messy hands on it. It makes the faucet dirty. As a solution to this problem, manufacturers started making touchless faucets.
These faucets work with the help of sensors and they use power sources like direct current or battery. When you take your hands near the faucet, it turns itself on and the water starts flowing. Maybe you’re thinking of upgrading your old straight forward faucet and chances are that you’ve bought a new one too!
Now, the question is, how you can set the touchless faucet up? Well, we have the answer for you. In this article, we’re going to describe how to install touchless kitchen faucet, what you need to know, and what tools are necessary.
Required Tools:
- One of the best touchless kitchen faucets
- Tape measure
- Drill
- Batteries
- Adjustable wrench
- Screwdriver
- And 3/ 32 drill bit
Installation Steps
Placing
To install a new one, you must remove the old one. To remove the old faucet, the first step is to turn off the water line both hot and cold. You can’t remove the old one without doing this. Then, through the deck gasket, thread the shank, hoses, and data cable of the new faucet and align those to the bottom of the body.
After that, insert the cable, shank, and hoses through the mounting hole. It’s essential that you install the deck plate if there are multiple holes. Before moving on to the next step make sure the spout is facing you and the faucet handle is on the right side.
Securing
Slide the support plate and the mounting washer under the sink step by step. While sliding, make sure that the hoses and data cables are within the washer curve. After doing this, thread the mounting nut.
Make sure your faucet is positioned and sitting safely on the sink. With the help of the installation tool, tighten the nuts. To make your tightening easier, you can insert a screwdriver in the holes at the plate bottom.
Hose bracket installing
At step 3 you’ll be installing the hose bracket. You need to install the hose bracket about 2 inches distance from the connecting hose end. After that slide the bracket to the faucet end and secure it in its place with the help of your hose guide nut.
Don’t forget to remove the protective cap which is located at the end of the hose and connect it to the faucet. The quick-connect lines will help you to do this. Make sure the connection is secure.
Connecting hose and supply lines
To connect the hose and supply lines, you need to identify the corresponding inlets from the control box. Remove the protective caps from the hoses and push each of those in place.
Now, this is the right time to connect both hot and cold water supply lines. Use an adjustable wrench to make the connections secure. Do not overtighten the connection, keep it snug. Connecting hoses to the correct inlets is a must. Don’t get confused with the cold and hot water lines. You can recognize the hot water line with a white color tag.
Installing the control box
Now, it’s time to install the control box. You can do it easily by snapping. In this case, you need to snap it towards the hose guide nut.
You can also install it in the cabinet or basement. You need a drill for that. Drill where you need to and then attach the control box with nuts. The screwdriver will help you out in this case. But when you’re doing this, you need to keep in mind that you need to install the control box where the hoses and data cable can easily reach.
Attaching spray wand
You need to attach the spray wand after step 5. To do this, you need to remove the protective cover on it first. While you’re attaching, make sure that the screen and the rubber washer are in their place.
Simply thread the spray wand with the hose. Then tighten until the hose nut is flush. You can use an adjustable wrench for doing this. Make sure it’s not over tighten. On the pull-down hose, you can find out the white mark. You need to set up a mass below this.
Installing the battery pack
When you’re installing the battery pack, you need to make sure that the wire can easily reach the control box bottom. After installing, remove the cover and insert batteries in it. Replace the cover then.
You can attach it to the wall using a screw or using a double-sided adhesive.
Plugging in the data cable
After doing this all, you need to plug the data cable. Just remove the protective cap on it and plug it in the control box. You have to make sure that the data port and the mini USB connection aligns together.
To band cables and hoses together, use a zip tie. Don’t band the pull-down hose. After this, take the battery wire and insert it in the control box. To ensure a proper start-up, you need to make sure that nothing is in between 3 feet of the faucet sensor. You can notice the blue light at the base. It means your faucet is ready to go now!
Turning the water on
Now you can turn on the cold and hot water inlets. Make sure your pull-down hose is working properly. Try not keeping any objects under the sink.
Now, your faucet is all set up and you can turn it on with a little movement in front of the sensor.
